“Using a family mediation service for  your divorce or separation can save you money, time and heartache.”

The number of sessions required depends entirely on what issues you need to resolve. On average 1-3 sessions are needed for cases involving children, and between 2-5 sessions for cases that also involve property and finance. Charges are payable before each session and can be shared in any way the couple may agree. Generally, charges are significantly less than going through the Courts. The average cost of pursuing family law proceedings through the Court can escalate to approximately £20,000 plus per person.

A MIAM costs £130 which includes the initial assessment and also covers all costs in contacting the other party, letters, telephone calls and if applicable the C100 and/or Form A, if required.

Or fees for mediation sessions are £130 per hour per person. A normal mediation session lasts an hour and a half. As part of our quality assurance, we are committed to keeping you informed on a timely basis, as to the likely costs of the mediation.

Should mediation be successful and any documents which require drafting (Memorandum of Understanding or Open Financial Statement) attract a fee of £180 for both or £100 for a single document.

The Family Mediation Voucher Scheme offers a financial incentive to families undergoing separation or divorce, encouraging them to resolve disputes through mediation rather than court proceedings. Funded by the Ministry of Justice, the scheme provides a £500 voucher towards the cost of mediation services, assisting in resolving issues around child arrangements, financial settlements, and property distribution.
